A lot has changed in these days concerning Live Internet Broadcasting. As most of you know, that's where an event (concert, press conference, medical procedure) is broadcast directly in to the Internet for viewing on your home or office computer. There are a number of different ways that you can view these broadcasts by downloading the correct "player" from the Web.
In the last few years, we've had the opportunity to provide local video crew and gear as well as the "streaming" company to take a live event and get it where it needs to go. Basically, the video crews have generally been a four person, two or three camera Betacam SP, DV or Digital Betacam crew. They then feed the video and audio output to our other vendor, who is supplying the computers and operator that compress and encode the signal. From that point, it is sent out of their computer by ISDN line or satellite back to our clients location. Then the client sends it up to a pre-determined address and "puts it up on the Web".
We've had many opportunities to be involved in a myriad of projects. From streaming the announcement a the Detroit Auto Show of the then new BMW X5 Sport Activity vehicle to major concerts, it's an area that's growing with the advent of broadband being much more readily available to businesses but also to the home users.
